Camp TMA, our Elementary Summer Program, welcomes students ages 6-12 to a Montessori Summer. The 9-week summer term is included in our year-round option, and is also available by session for students enrolled in the school-year option. Our summer program offers emphasis on special topics and activities while maintaining a Montessori environment focused on strengthening independence and interdependence. For all sessions, mornings will be spent outdoors in activities focused on gardening, movement, collaborative games, and exploration of our 5-acre wildscape.
Rising Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Levels’ work will extend into the afternoons and incorporate projects connected with the session’s theme, under the guidance and supervision of our outdoor classroom specialist, Mr. Walt. Rising First, Second and Third Levels will spend their afternoons in one of our Lower Elementary classrooms. Under the guidance of a Montessori-credentialed teacher, students will engage in activities designed to sharpen math and reading skills. Special hands-on activities will allow children to explore summer camp themes in fun, creative ways.
To enroll, download the 2018 Camp TMA Registration Form and contact us for further instructions. Camp TMA is open to current TMA students and children who attend other schools. For further information please contact us.
How well would you do if you had to live in the woods? Come learn all about outdoor survival including navigation, shelter building, hiking and backpacking, and even the basics of fishing! We will end the session with a family overnight stay at Camp TMA where campers will show their families new skills and set-up camp. The overnight activities will include a night hike and stories and songs around the campfire!
Armadillos, coyotes, and foxes! Oh my! Join us for this two week session to learn more about these magnificent creatures along with many other animals and plants native to Texas. Ever wondered how the longhorn used to roam free? Or asked yourself, "Can I eat that?" while on a hike? These are just a few examples of what we'll research and explore during this exciting session! We will also head to the new interactive exhibit at the River Legacy Living Science Center!
Back by popular demand! During these two weeks, we will discover the science in our kitchen. With crazy combinations of common kitchen staples, like salt, baking soda, vinegar, and water, these kitchen chemists will experiment, create, and discover. Between the physical and chemical changes in the kitchen and experiments with new recipes, things are going to get messy!
We started 2018 with a Super Blood Blue moon, but what does that even mean?! Join us as we investigate the lunar cycle, asteroids, comets, and other celestial bodies! Campers will practice finding patterns in the stars and learn their names. We'll even take a journey to space...or at least our local planetarium!
Quick breakfasts, yummy lunches and snacks, and even delicious dinners, all made by campers at TMA! During our last session of the summer, campers will learn about kitchen and food safety before learning a few simple and tasty recipes. This session will culminate in a kid created cookbook and family style meal where campers’ parents will be invited to join us for a meal they cooked!
